CBS Monetizes online pictorial memorial for Las Vegas shooting victims.
Because CBS is a member of the mainstream corporate media, I don’t expect much from them as an organisation. Walter Cronkite is long dead and so is the moral constitution of his era. Columbia Broadcasting Service has sunk to a new low. Posting an online memorial with photos of the victims is a nice idea. Posting one that runs display ads for lingerie, T-shirts and whatever else DoubleClick has to offer seems contemptuous to me. Is it really appropriate to put up this photo memorial for profit. Seems somewhat exploitative. I doubt the victims families will see any of the ad revenue. Is this fair use of the victims photos?
