2017 NFL Wild Card Predictions

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, for football fans anyway, as they NFL Playoffs officially get underway tomorrow afternoon. 2017 NFL Wild Card action is set to kickoff with a meeting between the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans at 4:35pm ET on Saturday and it will conclude when the Giants meet the Packers at Lambeau Field at 4:40pm ET on Sunday.

The latest NFL predictions from offshore bookmaker Bovada is not exactly predicting an overly exciting slate of Wild Card games, though.

The Texans, in spite of a 3-4 finish to the season and great deal of uncertainty at the quarterback position, are a -4 favorite over the Raiders. That, of course, has a great deal to do with Oakland’s quarterback situation. With starter Derek Carr and backup Matt McGloin both sidelined due to injury, rookie signal caller Connor Cook will take the reins for the Raiders tomorrow.

Saturday night’s clash between the Lions and Seahawks features an even larger spread with Seattle favored at -8 against the spread. Detroit has, however, covered the number five times in the last eight meetings between the two teams.

In Sunday’s opener the Steelers are expected to roll the sixth seeded Dolphins, drawing a -10 line. It is worth noting that Miami did score a 30-15 win over Pittsburgh in South Beach earlier this season and it has covered in four of its last five games opposite the Steelers.

The Wild Card finale should be a good one even though the Packers are favored at -4.5 against the spread. Green Bay rides a six game winning streak into the playoffs, but the Giants have been a Packer nemesis, winning three of their last five against Green Bay while producing a 5-0 ATS record.

2017 NFL Wild Card Betting Trends:

The Giants are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games playing as a road dog to the Packers.

The Dolphins are 1-6 both straight up and against the spread in their last seven games playing as a road dog coming off a home loss.

The Lions are 1-10 straight up and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games playing as a road dog coming off a home loss.

The Texans are 6-1 straight up and 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games playing as a home favorite coming off a road loss.
